Adam Sandler Is Pretty Much ‘The Waterboy’ in Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Sandy Wexler’

2017 is already rough as hell, and now Netflix has to go and make it even harder to get through. Remember how Netflix made a four-picture deal with Adam Sandler? I regret to inform you that we’re only halfway through that deal. Following The Ridiculous 6 and The Do-Over, we still have two more Sandler movies on the way. One of those movies is Sandy Wexler.

A 1994-set comedy, the movie stars Sandler as a the titular Los Angeles talent manager who’s really just a more obnoxious version of Bobby Boucher. Don’t get me wrong, I like The Waterboy (or at least I did when I was 7), but with Netflix tossing so much money at this guy you’d assume he’d come up with some new personas and accents.

The most shocking thing about the first full trailer for Sandler’s new film is that it’s not rampant with sexist jokes or crude potty humor. Besides an obnoxiously laughing Sandler, there’s a ton of cameos: Chris Rock, Dana Carvey, David Spade, Henry Winkler, Judd Apatow, Arsenio Hall, Conan O’Brien, Vanilla Ice, plus Sandler-regular Kevin James. The film also stars Jennifer Hudson (just imagine how much money Netflix paid her for this) as an aspiring singer who Sandy manages and now I’ve lost complete interest in describing anything about this movie. Refer to the official synopsis if you must know more:

Sandy Wexler (Adam Sandler) is a talent manager working in Los Angeles in the 1990s who diligently represents a group of eccentric clients on the fringes of show business. His single-minded devotion is put to the test when he falls in love with his newest client, Courtney Clarke (Academy Award and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson), a tremendously talented singer who he discovers at an amusement park.

Sandy Wexler also stars Terry Crews, Lamorne Morris, Nick Swardson, Jane Seymour, and Rob Schneider who’s probably playing another racist stereotype. The movie hits Netflix on April 14, in case you want to know what day to avoid Netflix.
