Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band revealed during a televised interview last night that he is engaged to be married for seventh time, to a 24-year-old woman identified only as Shannon.

Speaking to Piers Morgan of CNN in order to promote his new book ‘My Cross to Bear,’ Allman apparently revealed the news off camera, shuffling a bit nervously but smiling broadly when Morgan brought it up on the air. To paraphrase the Beatles, Allman won’t have to wonder if his new bride will still need and feed him when he’s 64, because he already crossed that milestone back in December 2011.

When asked how his fiancee felt about becoming his seventh wife, Allman firmly but politely replied, “That’s not what she’s becoming. She’s becoming wife No. 1. I don’t have a wife, I haven’t had one for years.” He also explained this go-round would be different because, “This time, I am really in love,” and then estimated that he had been in love with only two of his previous wives –and even then, “They didn’t reciprocate.”
