My nerd world has literally just shattered. I have been a fan of Star Trek since my dad showed me the very first movie and season when I was a freshman in high school. I loved every thing about the show. It was just amazing to me and I loved it so much. I honestly almost started crying when I read the news. I just really can't believe this is real.

I was on Facebook earlier when I saw one of my family members post about Leonard Nimoy. I read the article and shouted "This can't be real, right?" My roommates response was to Google it and find out. So I did.....

It's true, it's really, and truly, true. Leonard Nimoy died this morning caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which he reported to having last year. It's hard to image that the man I always believed would live long and prosper has died. I honestly never thought he would die, which I know is childish. I believed that be was Spock, and that he would live forever, much like the Vulcan character he portrayed in Star Trek.

Leonard Nimoy was born on March 26, 1931 in Boston Massachusetts to Dora and Max Nimoy. Nimoy made his acting debut at the age of 20 with a bit part in Queen for a Day. He gained the role of Spock in Star Trek in 1966 where his performance won him 3 Emmy nominations and launched his career.

Of course I really only knew him for his role in Star Trek, but he was very talented in everything he did and he will surely be missed by his family, friends, and of course his many Trekkie fans.
