How does Lubbock's possible new stadium affect Amarillo?

On Thursday, August 11th, the Lubbock City Council will consider a proposal to start development and construction of a sports and community venue. If Lubbock voters approve, they may be getting a new Minor League baseball team, more outdoor concerts, and many other revenue-generating events.

It just so happens that Amarillo is competing for a Minor League team and last year, voters approved $32 million for a MPEV or Multipurpose Event Venue, in the hopes of bringing more events and revenue to the town.

Some believe if Lubbock approves the stadium, Amarillo may get passed over for the baseball league or acts passing through town that could play at our stadium.

I guess time will tell how it will turn out for the two towns!
