Back in a 2013 interview with Larry King, Marilyn Manson claimed he'd been blamed for 36 school shootings. Regardless of the number, Columbine will likely always be the most notorious shooting of which Manson was blamed, and the Antichrist Superstar spoke about the tragedy and more in a new interview.

Marilyn Manson's short appearance in 2002's Bowling for Columbine helped changed the perception of Manson and his intellectual capabilities. Unfortunately, the public only took notice of Manson's depth after Columbine took a huge toll on his career. "With Columbine, it really shut down my career entirely, to the point where casinos -- gambling establishments -- refused to book my shows," Manson tells Billboard.

He continues, "They put these two killers (Harris and Klebold) on the cover of Time magazine. I've never been on the cover of Time magazine. That's the whole point."

Manson also commented how the internet has cheapened the concept of building a persona. "Having a persona online doesn't make you a personality now," Manson told the Cannes Lions audience on June 22. "When everyone can be famous, to me it's not a challenge. The best will rise to the top."

"I wonder sometimes if I've outgrown my spotlight," Manson ponders. "Someone asked me a long time ago, 'Are you worried your image will overshadow your music?' No, I'm worried my music will overshadow my image."

Marilyn Manson will soon embark on a co-headlining tour with the Smashing Pumpkins, who just reunited with drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. For the full list of tour dates, click here.
