All around the world, the memory of late Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister continues to be celebrated. The latest tribute will come at Sweden's finals for their V8 Thunder Car racing series when British metal legends Saxon take the stage, joined by Motorhead members Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell.

Dubbed the "Lemmy 500," the race will be held in Ljungbyhed, Sweden on Sept. 24 later this year. The winner of the race will be crowned onstage in front of the crowd before the onset of the show. Saxon frontman Biff Byford commented to MyNewsDesk, "It's going to be great to come back and see all our Swedish fans. This event is something special and unique. We have never before played a concert at a racetrack on a race day and it will also be a chance to pay tribute to our longtime friend and rock icon Lemmy along with Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell."

"This is going to be a night to remember!" exclaimed Dee, adding, "Playing some of Motorhead's greatest hits together with our friends Saxon is going to be a great tribute to our former friend and bandmember. The Lemmy 500 will go down in history as the rockiest race championship final ever!"

Alexander Graff, runner-up from last year's championship proclaimed, "There will be no other race more prestigious to win than the Lemmy 500 in Sweden. It will be one hell of a final, a true party of rock 'n' roll and racing mixed together. Both Saxon and Motorhead are huge here in Sweden and we will make sure the spectators will feel right at home in our paddock. We are quite a rowdy but friendly bunch and definitely more rock 'n' roll than the glamour that is so often associated with motorsports."

Both Campbell and Dee have taken the stage with various acts in recent months, paying tribute to the fallen Lemmy with Motorhead classics. The most recent came when Campbell played alongside Metallica bassist's Robert Trujillo's Mass Mental, ripping through "Ace of Spades" and "(We Are) The Road Crew."
