Jenni Lake gave birth to her son 1 month before turning 18. Unlike most mothers, she did not go on to raise her child. She chose to give birth to her baby than to have Chemotherapy treatment. She lost her battle with cancer, but left behind a bundle of joy for her family.

When she was admitted to the hospital, she pulled the nurse down and whispered in her ear. The nurse shared the words she whispered in hopes of comfort to the grieving family.

"She told the nurse, `I'm done, I did what I was supposed to. My baby is going to get here safe,'" said Diana Phillips, Jenni's mother.

There are pictures of the beautiful baby and the family. The baby is healthy and happy. Jenni was only 5 foot 4inches tall and weighed only 108 at the time she gave birth.
Jenni lived for 12 days after her baby was born. Half of those days were in the hospital. The cancer that had taken root in her brain and spine, were to strong and without the chemotherapy, it was too late. Her friends and family find her legacy in sacrifice rather than in tragedy.
