Marvin Garcia, a Hispanic Male, has escaped from the Neal Unit at 3:40 AM this morning (Monday, Sept 22). He is 34 years old and is described as being 5'7 feet tall. He's 150lbs with brown hair and brown eye.

Garcia was serving a 25 year sentence for a murder committed in Harris county. He has a tear drop tattoo under the left eye and a beaded rope tattooed across his chest. Whether Garcia is armed at this point is not known, but he is considered dangerous.

He went South and West from the prison upon his escape. He was last seen wearing white prison clothing. Residents in North East Amarillo are being advised to lock all doors and windows and call 911 immediately if they see the man or any suspicious activity.

UPDATE: Garcia might look slightly different than the released photo. He is wearing glasses and his hair is about one inch long. He weighs about 140lbs and may have suffered cuts while jumping the fence. TDCJ confirmed that one of their roving patrols saw Garcia and fired shots at him. They do not know if he was hit. Over 30 law enforcement officers are involved in the search.

Garcia has now been caught. He was 21 miles North of Amarillo and about a mile and a half West of 87/287.
