We're less than a week away from the release of Seether's highly-anticipated Poison the Parish album. The band promised a return to their heavier days, which has been evident by the previously released singles and the latest, "Count Me Out," adheres to this value as well.

There's a sense of urgency to "Count Me Out" as singer Shaun Morgan joins the song in the opening moments, backed by a clean-toned guitar melody that sets the foreboding mood. A cascading, crushing rhythm washes away these lighter moments an a flash and the energy volleys from here, dipping in intensity again during the verse, exploding once more as the refrain hits. It isn't until the end that we get a taste of Seether's true aggression as Morgan opens his throat for a series of pained shrieks.

Poison the Parish will be out on May 12 on Morgan's own imprint, Canine Riot Records and pre-orders can be placed at the group's website. With "Let You Down," "Stoke the Fire" and "Nothing Left" already released, fans should have a strong sense of what to expect on this new record.

Seether are currently in the midst of a headlining North American tour with support from  Letters From the Fire (May 2 through 27; July 16 through Aug. 20), Through Fire (June 1 through June 7), Kaleido (May 2 through June 10) and Big Story (July 16 through Aug. 20). They've also enlisted the services of Sevendust's Clint Lowery as an additional guitarist on the trek and for a list of all stops, check our 2017 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
