One-of-a-kind memorabilia associated with some of rock's biggest names will hit the auction block as part of an upcoming Sotheby's sale titled A Rock & Roll Anthology: From Folk to Fury.

Scheduled for exhibition from Dec. 1-9, with the auction to follow on Dec. 10, the sale is one of two Sotheby's events dedicated to "key moments in musical and counter-cultural history," and will find new homes for an array of artifacts that includes "John Lennon's piano, David Bowie's Glass Spider tour stage outfit, and the iconic awning of the Lower East Side's CBGB."

Needless to say, the vast majority of the items for sale will fetch purchase prices well beyond the spending limits of the average fan. The complete lot, which you can browse here, touts "important manuscripts and memorabilia from the Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Eagles, and a rare offering from the Sex Pistols’ seminal album Never Mind the Bollocks," plus the upright piano Lennon used to compose classic songs such as “A Day in the Life" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."

A Rock & Roll Anthology: From Folk to Fury follows Bowie/Collector, which saw Sotheby's selling hundreds of items from David Bowie's personal collection earlier this year — and the auction house has yet another rock-related event on its calendar. Boo Hooray Presents: Post-War, Counterculture, and Pop, which highlights "less celebrated yet influential movements," offers its own assortment of cultural memorabilia, with online bidding set to run between Dec. 1 and 16.
