The madness of deducing American Horror Story Season 6 is behind us, but Season 7 has its own questions. Answers may come as early as next week, as Ryan Murphy promises a full title, and perhaps even the new opening credits.
Until American Horror Story proves otherwise, Season 7 is the Year of Billies. Following the addition of comedian Billy Eichner, the seventh run of Ryan Murphy’s FX horror anthology has added Scream Queens star and Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd in a major role.
The American Horror Story got too real with suggestions that Season 7 would follow the 2016 election, Trump, Clinton and all, until Ryan Murphy clarified the political connection as allegorical. Now, Murphy seems to walk back his words yet again, suggesting Trump and Clinton castings are forthcoming.
As if the American Horror Story name didn’t prove topical enough during the 2016 election, Season 7 may make the connection literal. Creator Ryan Murphy claims that next season will follow “the election that we just went through,” but how specifically might he mean?
American Horror Story got plenty of road to reinvent itself with an additional two-season renewal, but don’t expect any major shakeups in Season 7. Not only are series staples Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters confirmed to return, but producers promise yet another mystery theme (ugh) for Season 7.
Yesterday brought word that Archer would be moving to FXX for Season 8 (albeit without a formal premiere date beyond “spring”), and a first look at the new “Dreamland” setting more than ensures we’ll follow. Watch Sterling and co. give their best noir in new promos for the Season 8 premiere!
It wasn’t long after Jax Teller left the Sons of Anarchy behind that FX started gearing up for a potential spinoff, and it seems the Mayans are finally getting their day. Kurt Sutter’s Mayans MC series has an official pilot order at the network, along with a synopsis set in a “post Jax Teller world.”
Not that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has ever shied away from coarse language, but the move to FXX and a 14-season vote of confidence from the network was bound to offer a little leeway. So it is, that Mac, Charlie, Dee, Frank and Dennis are at their most vulgar in a full trailer for Always Sunny Season 12, hitting FXX in 2017.
American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy already promised that Season 7 wouldn’t employ the same closely-guarded mystery theme that made Roanoke rough going at first, but that isn’t going to preclude some fun in the meantime. A cryptic new tease from American Horror Story social media could be putting us out to sea for the show’s seventh year.
FX’s Sons of Anarchy has retired to the garage long enough that creator Kurt Sutter has been mostly working in private, though we may soon have something to show. The proposed Mayans MC spinoff is gearing toward production, and may return one of the original series’ Mayan stars.
