Vinyl lovers, start saving your money and circle April 19 on your calendar because that's when the next Record Store Day is taking place. As usual, a number of top acts are preparing special releases for the event.
For this year's Record Store Day, Green Day will release an 18-song collection of demos culled from a trio of recent albums that nobody paid much attention to.
As we previously reported, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is pursuing a passion project with acclaimed singer/songwriter Norah Jones. The two have bonded over their love of early rock era pioneers the Everly Brothers, and they're re-interpreting 12 songs on a disc called 'Foreverly.' Two of the album's tracks have surfaced ahead of the release.
Billie Joe Armstrong has been expanding his artistic horizons recently. He landed a role in the movie 'Like Sunday, Like Rain,' and now the Green Day frontman has recorded an album with singer/songwriter Norah Jones.
Metallica, U2 and Green Day are three of the biggest bands in the world in different genres. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich reveals in a new interview that he'd like the three titans to team up for a tour, and apparently the other bands could be up for it, as well.
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has quite a few irons in the film fire. The singer, who completed a rehab stint after an onstage meltdown at the iHeart Radio festival a year ago, is not only appearing in two upcoming Green Day documentaries. He also landed a role in 'Like Sunday, Like Rain,' an indie film drama that will star 'Gossip Girl' actress Leighton Meester.
In the United Stated, MTV has the annual VMAs. In Europe, the music channel has the EMAs, and this year's nominations have just been announced. Among the contenders are Black Sabbath, Green Day, Queens of the Stone Age, 30 Seconds to Mars and Linkin Park.
After screenings earlier this year at events including the Aspen X Games, South by Southwest and the Newport Film Festival, Green Day's documentary ‘¡Cuatro!’ will be released Sept. 24 on DVD and via iTunes. Watch the trailer above.
