Palo Duro Canyon is hosting a special hike to learn about the river that formed the canyon.

Join the wonderful staff at Palo Duro Canyon and explore the Paseo del Rio Trail.

Starting at 7pm, Friday, July 22nd, a park interpreter will take you on a hike along the trail.  This is the river that formed the canyon.

You'll visit the historic cowboy dugout and enjoy the flora, fauna and all the geology that Palo Duro Canyon has to offer.

So grab the family, wear shoes that are appropriate for hiking and bring lots of water.

This is an easy hike, the hike is only 1 1/2 miles and yes it is kid friendly and you can even bring your pets as long as they are on a leash.

The hike will begin at the Chinaberry Day use area, this area is located just past water crossing #1 on the right side of the road.

Cost of the hike is just entry fees into the park which are: $5 for adults, kids 12 and under get in free.

So come to Palo Duro Canyon and learn how it was formed, get some exercise and just enjoy the beauty.

Who knows you might also find a rare Pokemon.  Then again I have no clue, I don't play the game, but I'm sure they are hiding.
